Do Propane Tank Monitors Replace Degree-Day Forecasting?
No, a monitor does not replace your delivery plan by itself. A monitor reports tank level. Degree days track weather used to estimate heat demand. Decide who reviews each number and who orders the fuel. Record that plan before changing an account’s automatic-delivery service.
Know what each number means
The National Weather Service uses a 65°F base for heating degree days. When the daily mean is below that base, the gap is the day’s total. It measures weather. PERC describes monitors that report tank levels and use. Neither number is a completed order.
Write the account plan first
For automatic delivery, name who checks readings. Set a plan for missing data or a reading that differs from the forecast. For will-call, agree who places the order. Do not leave the customer and office each assuming the other is watching.
Check what the app does
Blink Fuel’s heating-oil page says to keep your billing and degree-day back office. Blink Fuel does not forecast autofill. That page does not prove a tank-monitor feed for a propane account. Ask to see that connection on its own.
Questions owners ask
Does a monitor automatically change a will-call account to automatic delivery?
No. Agree who watches the tank and who orders fuel. Write down that account plan.
Does Blink Fuel forecast autofill?
No. Our heating-oil page says to keep your existing degree-day back office. Blink Fuel does not forecast autofill.
Next step
Bring one account’s current delivery plan to a Blink Fuel demo. Ask the presenter to show where each reading and order goes.
